'Oh, I lost him to a jukebox and a pinball machine'

What a great concept for a song this is! A woman loses her husband to a jukebox and pinball machine. Wonderful! The rodeo guitar, the pumping bassline and the hilarious lyrics make this the highest Emmylou Harris track on the list.

Enjoy!

'I pulled into Nazareth, was feeling 'bout half past dead'

My Dad insists that this is not a Country Song but I have to disagree... It opens with the lines: 'I pulled into Nazereth, was feeling 'bout half past dead'. Quite possibly the most cowboy line I've ever heard. The Band were the perfect mixture of country, rock and blues. 'The Night They Drove Ol' Dixy Down' is a corker too. Their live album 'The Last Waltz' is the ultimate guest appearance performance... With guest spots from Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Staple Singers, Van Morrison and Neil Diamond to name a few.

Here I have provided you with the non-live version and don't forget to take a load off Fanny!

'Feeling better, now that we're through... Feeling better 'cause I'm over you '

Those of you who were pulling their face at Kacy Musgraves but agree with this song need to question if you just don't like modern music. Afterall, Linda has done exactly what Kacey did - fuse different genres!

Linda has one hell of a voice and it's nice to hear some country music influenced by black R&B and soul. So although 'Blue Bayou' is more of a fan favourite, 'You're No Good' gets my vote!

'She would drag me through the streets of Baltimore'

The real discovery of my country expedition was Gram Parsons. He breaks every Country rule and stops the genre from sounding stale.

I just adore a song with a story and this one is heart breakingly wonderful.

Listen and enjoy!

'I'll be your Emmylou and I'll be your June, If you'll be my Gram and my Johnny too'

Who would have thought Swedish Country music was a thing? And that it was this beautful. Gorgeous. This video is lovely as it is performed in front of a teary Emmylou Harris.

First Aid Kit are really showing the 'genuine' country stars how it's done. Just don't listen to it too carefully or you'll burst into tears too.
